Question: Is Stevia Safe?

There are some concern over the safty of stevia inspite of numerous studies and traditional uses that confirmed its safety. Based on a few studies, researchers found when rats were fed LARGE amount of stevia extract, some pathological changes that might indicate that they became infertile.  Therefore, WHO, EU and the FDA all agree not to allow stevia to be used as a sweeteners in their respective juridictions.  That got me thinking.  The studies that led to the approval of aspartame (Nutrasweet) and sucralose (Splenda) were much more flimsy and yet they are approved.  In fact, FDA scientists kept aspartame out of the market for over ten years. Until some slick political maneuver that overturned the safety net of the FDA (It has been turn up-side-down ever since) and aspartame slipped into the market. I think if stevia is approved as a sweetener, that will totally dry up the market for the other artificial sweeteners, that will be very bad for business (as usual.)

By the way, we really should stop drinking water because it can cause water intoxication and death. Did we hear the report of a women died of that conditon recently? Well, you can see this is a joke. Even good things, overdosed, can cause harm.

We should not over use any substance in the first place especially any concentrated form of chemicals be it natural or man-made. We will certainly can get into trouble if we use a very large amount of refined stevia extract long term. But if we only use it occasionally to sweeten a cup of tea or two, there will definitely be no problem.  I have been using stevia extract since it was available in the US back in the late 80’s. I have not found it to be a problem.  I am not using a lot of it either.  We can all learn to use some common sense.  Stevia is certainly much safer than white sugar and artificial sweetners.

Anemia Drugs May Harm Cancer Patients

Recently studies showed that a type popular anti-anemic drugs for cancer patients actually makes cancer worse. These drugs are heavily promoted in the media.  Once again, we are taught that drugs do not cure.  Drugs are physiological toxins exerting their actions by blocking enzymes and hormone receptors and chemical pathways.  These toxins cause more damage to the immune system and creating inflammatory reactions in the body, these are the same mechanisms that allow cancer to exist in the first place.  The only way to heal any ailments is found in eating wholesome, nutritious food, engage in other healthy lifestyle habits such as exercise, adequate sleep and loving relationships with other living organisms, a companion, a friend, a pet. This is true health, most of all, is to have a deep faith in a power that is greater than us who is truly in charge will allow us to have the kind of peace that surpass all understanding.

Six Rules For Eating Wisely

This is a summary of Michael Pollan’s Time Magazine article. Eating wisely is a lost art in our culture.

Here are the 6 rules:

1. Don’t eat anything your great-great-great grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food. Corn oil was not a food until 1900.

2. Avoid foods containing high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). It is linked to increase diabetes, obesity and cancers.
3. Spend more, eat less. Buy quality foods, cost more but actually good for you.
4. Pay no heed to nutritional science or the health claims on packages. Real foods don’t come with labels or health claims.
5. Shop at the farmers’ market. In the summer, they are true bounty of nature. Support your local farmers.
6. How you eat is as important as what you eat. Americans are fixated on nutrients, low fat, low carbs, good and bad, while the French and Italians focus on the whole dining experience. So, relax. Eat food, savor it. Have some nice music, light some candles, romancing your foods and your loved ones. For the full article, follow the link.

Antoine Bechamp and His Cellular Theory of Disease (Anti-Germ Theory)

One of the most important researchers in medical history, Dr. Antoine Bechamp, if we can bring the results of his research to light, it can potentially change the course of our currently disasterous healthcare system.  Dr. Bechamp discovered that bacteria is not the cause of diseases but the internal environment of the body, the condition of the immune system are the cause of illness in animals and humans. His reserach was ignored for over a hundred years.  If only we had listened to his warnings instead Louis Pasteur’s, we will enjoy a much higher level of health and vitality.  However, like everything in our culture, economic factors are always place ahead of people’s welfare. If more of us are educated and demand for change, we will create a better future for ourselves and our children. You can read more about his research. Follow the links.

Heart Attack Prevention: Think About This Idea

Heart disease in the form of myocardial infraction (MI) was non-existent in 1900 when egg consumption was three times what it was in 1956 and when corn oil was unavailableThe first recorded case of MI in the
US was in 1921. By 1930, there were 3,000 recorded deaths from MI.  By 1960, that number had risen to half a million deaths per year, putting heart disease, mainly in the form of myocardial infarction, as the number-one cause of death in American. Today, from 650,000-700,000 Americans die each year from MI.

During an interview when Dr. Paul Dudley White, who was regarded as the Father of Cardiology, was asked to support the diet that endorse the abandonment of butter and animal fat in favor of corn oil, he replied, “See here, I began my practice as a cardiologist in 1921 and I never saw an MI patient until 1928.  Back in the MI-free days before 1920 the fats were butter and lard and I think we would all benefit from the kind of diet we had at that time when no one had ever heard the word corn oil.”

How to Avoid High Blood Pressure Medications

There seems to be more and more people being put on high blood pressure medication these days.  The officail guideline for blood pressure has gone ever lower.  What use to be normal if your reading is 120/80, now these numbers indicate that you’re pre-hypertensive and a candidate for one of several hypotensive medications.  However these drugs have not been proven to prolong life nor lowering blood pressure with drugs an indicator for health. Antihypertensive drugs offer no healing properties. OTC Gut Drugs: The Beginning of The End

Problems with digestion, elimination, and assimilation are common in the American population. For many, these over-the-counter products for indigestion are a way of life. They represent on-the-spot relief for problems that are covered up for years until surgery finally removes the offending organ. Five hundred thousand gallbladder surgeries are preformed in the
United States each year.  These drugstore remedies do not actually correct problems and restore normal function of the digestive tract, they only cover the symptoms.

There is no attempt to find and remove the cause of the symptoms and restore normal body function, as it should be done in real healthcare. While quick symptom relief is important and necessary, it should not be a way of life.

People with problems such as indigestion, constipation, and diarrhea usually don’t go to a doctor before serious complications begin because it is uncommon for most to seek help for mild symptoms and non-life-threatening problems. Self medicating with over-the-counter remedies until their symptoms became severe enough, than are replaced by more expensive prescription drugs, or worse, a surgery, when they finally get to a medical doctor.

There is a better way. Every symptom has a physiological cause and a stress tissue or organ. There are ways to detect which organ or tissue is involved by physical examination and lab analysis. Once the cause is known, treatment will become obvious. Lifestyle changes and nutritional support for the stressed organs can correct these problems. In fact, these are the only way to correct stress-related physiological changes. A rational approach is to remove the stress by changing a few simple dietary habits and including the use of food enzyme supplements to restore normal function.  When stressed tissues or organs get the nutrition they need, it will be able to get rid of the toxins and restore to normal functioning, they will no longer need to produce the distress symptoms that get us running to the drug stores in the first place.

Random Thought

Illness is not a bad thing.  It is the consequence of a specific choice you made.  As you make a choice, the consequence comes as a matter of course.  If you own up to your choice and learn from the experience, you will be wiser and healthier.  What you don’t learn, you are bound to repeat the lesson.

Illnesses teach us how to be healthy.  It is a fallacy to believe that you have to be perfect to be healthy.  There will always be something in us that needs healing.  We can be healthy and flaw at the same time.
